Meat Wave is constantly being asked about its name, though it gets why you keep on doing it. Formed in 2011 by the trio of Chris Sutter (vocals/guitar), Joe Gac (bass), and Ryan Wizniak (drums), the three Chicago punk scene stalwarts issued their self-titled full-length in 2013 and signed with SideOneDummy for the release of 2015's Delusion Moon. Now they'll kick off 2017 with their second effort for the label, The Incessant, another master class in abrasive post-punk made to feel poppy, simultaneously referencing Hot Snakes, the disgruntled lyricism of Shellac and a little bit of The Jesus Lizard's fire-spitting sneer just for good measure. The first taste of the album comes in the form of the snarling title track single recorded with fellow Chicago native Steve Albini (Nirvana, The Jesus Lizard, Neurosis).
